So this is our very first blog post… maybe I should start with a little introduction about us.
Higher Broadgates Farm began life as a dairy and egg farm over 50 years ago. After starting life in the Midlands my Grandfather began searching for somewhere new to start his family and found his piece of paradise in Cornworthy and it has been run by our family ever since.
Being a diary farmer was hard work, the cows needed milking twice a day and there were lots of eggs to collect so as soon as the children were old enough they were given a hen house to tend. My aunt told me last week that he said “having lots of children was great, I’ve worked hard and can now retire early and let you all do the work!”
Today the farm is run by my dad and we are a beef and egg farm. We have over 700 hens and supply many of the local and neighbouring restaurants and even have a weekly egg round to houses around the South Hams and Torbay.
Now I’m sure your thinking how is that linked to camping or glamping for that matter…. This is where we come in!
My partner and I spent time in Australia and upon our return fell in love all over again with the farm and its stunning scenery. We want to share the love and have opened up one of our fields to you lovely lot!
New for this summer we are bringing GLAMPING to the South Hams, the luxuries of home with the beauty of camping and simply amazing views to boot! If that’s not your thing but like what your reading you can also pitch your own tent!
